Dam That Cancer is the premier fundraising event for The Flatwater Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides access to mental health services for those in need affected by cancer. This summer, Lake Austin will provide the setting for the third annual Dam That Cancer fundraiser, a 21-mile stand-up paddle and party on Monday, June 4, 2012.

This year’s event will see a group of determined individuals show their commitment in the global fight against cancer, with each paddler raising over $1,500 for The Flatwater Foundation. Their reward – together they will travel the entire length of Lake Austin, from Mansfield Dam to Tom Miller Dam – 21 miles – testing their physical limits as they take this journey on stand-up paddle boards for over eight hours under the hot Texas sun.

Why? To show what we, as a group, with support from one another, can accomplish. To prove that unity is strength. To remind people how many lives are affected by one diagnosis, and how important mental health is when overcoming cancer.

Please take a moment to learn more about our riders, and consider making a donation in support of our entire group, or an individual paddler taking a stand for mental health. Proceeds from this event will provide access to mental health and wellness programs for those affected by cancer who can not otherwise afford it.

Even if you aren’t one of the lucky paddlers in this year’s event, everyone will have the opportunity to participate and show support by attending our “We Paddle, You Party” fundraising celebration at the finish line – at the one and only Hula Hut! Everyone's invited! A donation of $50 or more will even qualify you as a DTC-VIP! See you there!
